Coolibah Day Centre

Initially known as the Coolibah Club, the Coolibah Day Centre is an aged care service provided by the Brotherhood of St Laurence. It has operated in the Brotherhood's headquarters since 1946, offering a range of social activities, medical assistance and a daily meal for men (and later women) living in flats and boarding houses in the surrounding area. Combining elements of such later developments as suburban Senior Citizens Clubs and day hospitals associated with residential institutions, the club marked an early recognition of the social needs of people seeking to maintain their independence into old age.
