A locality in Glenroy to the west of the Hume Highway, Hadfield was named after a Broadmeadows city councillor. The Fawkner Crematorium & Memorial Park is located in Hadfield. Residential growth boomed in the area in the 1950s, and by the end of the 20th century its population had decreased and aged significantly.
