Oz Child

This organisation was created in 1993 by an amalgamation of three Melbourne charitable groups: Family Action, Family Focus and the National Children's Bureau of Australia. Family Action, Victoria's oldest continuing children's charity, was founded in 1851 as the St James Orphan Asylum, subsequently known as the Melbourne Orphan Asylum, the Melbourne Orphanage, Melbourne Family Care and Family Action. Family Focus originated in 1893 as a child rescue organisation called the Victorian Neglected Children's Aid Society. The National Children's Bureau was founded in 1971 to research and lobby on children's issues. Oz Child provides a wide range of services for disadvantaged children and families.
