Gough Alley is located between King and William streets. It extends east from King Street and doglegs to a dead-end in a northern direction towards Little Lonsdale Street. Gough Alley was the site of a mixture of residential homes and vacant allotments in 1860. It also provided the rear access-way for the Kilkenny Inn, located on the corner of Lonsdale Street and King Street in 1895.
