Amstel

This former locality in Waverley was named after the farming property of merchant and Dutch consul Daniel Ploos van Amstel, who purchased the Scotchman's Creek holding in the 1870s. Amstel Primary School in North Clayton opened in the 1950s and was merged with East Oakleigh Primary School in the 1990s to form Amsleigh Park Primary School. The site of the former school at the junction of Ferntree Gully and Clayton roads was subdivided for housing.
