This locality is situated to the east of Melbourne Airport between Greenvale to the north and Westmeadows to the south. Attwood is bisected by Mickleham Road, the location of the Victorian Institute of Animal Science and the Victoria Police dog training centre, stud farm and motor driving school. In 2001, a quarter of its population of 2218 was overseas-born, mainly Italian, British and Turkish. The most common industries of employment included manufacturing and the retail trade.
