Australian Paper Manufacturers Ltd (APM) was the foundation enterprise and a unit of the international paper and packaging conglomerate AMCOR, established in 1986. As the Australian Paper and Pulp Co., and still operating Charles Ramsden's 1868 city-based paper mill, they opened their Fairfield paper and board mill in 1921. Dominating the industry, the company developed the uses of native timber pulps, including explosives components. A public company from 1937, and in the 1950s diversifying into packaging with manufacturing facilities elsewhere in Victoria, interstate and overseas, the company was named APM Ltd in 1984.
