An example of Melbourne-based personal philanthropy, the Brockhoff Foundation was established in 1979 to commemorate (Sir) Jack Brockhoff (1908-84), whose family biscuit company was absorbed by Arnotts in 1973. The foundation distributes more than $2 million annually, funding medical research and organisations which provide financial assistance, emergency housing or long-term accommodation and practical support to children, people with disabilities and the aged.
