Coolaroo

172 (3048, 18 km N, Hume City) Coolaroo is a residential and industrial suburb located between Campbellfield to the east and Meadow Heights to the west. Its northern industrial section south of Roxburgh Park includes Visy and Greer Industries, and the suburb also houses the Kayser Hosiery factory. The Housing Commission of Victoria purchased land in the area in the 1950s, with the first homes constructed in Coolaroo West in the mid-1970s. Coolaroo's population decreased and aged in the latter decades of the 20th century. The name is believed to derive from an Aboriginal word for brown snake.
