Immigration Museum

Opened in 1998 the Immigration Museum is located in the 1876 Customs House in Flinders Street, opposite the point on the Yarra River where many of the city's early European settlers first landed. A campus of Museum Victoria, it features fixed displays illustrating the themes of Leavings, Settlings, Journeys and Getting In and also has space for changing exhibitions. The Sarah and Baillieu Myer Immigrant Discovery Centre is a centre for family history and genealogical research, while the Museum's Tribute Garden memorialises Victoria's immigrant heritage, listing the names of more than 7000 immigrants from 90 different countries.
