This community eco-museum was established in 1984 at Pipemakers Park, Maribyrnong. The purpose of the museum is to involve the local community of the western suburbs of Melbourne in researching and presenting the heritage of their area, from before the arrival of Europeans until the present day. Core funding is from Arts Victoria. The museum organises seminars and tours on site, publishes material on the history, culture and environment of the western region of Melbourne, and carries out consultancy work for the private sector.
