A residential and commercial locality on Ferntree Gully Road and just north of Monash University between Clayton and Mount Waverley, Notting Hill was named after its London equivalent. Dairying and market gardening were predominant rural activities into the 20th century, and a school opened in the area in 1927. The Notting Hill Hotel is a well-known landmark.
