Ogg's Pharmacy

Situated at 76 Collins Street from 1872 until its demolition in 1976, Ogg's was the second of the two pharmacies established by Charles Ogg, the first being in Prahran. Its 19th-century interior, elements of which are in the Melbourne Museum collection, included built-in fittings, timber and glass-fronted cupboards, display cases with curved glass, labelled drawers, an engraved glass panel bearing the royal coat of arms and a papier-mâché ceiling. The National Trust endeavoured to preserve the interior prior to its demolition. The original cast-iron verandah, saved following an alteration to the façade in the 1950s, was re-erected at the entrance to University House at the University of Melbourne.
