Riversdale

(3124, 10 km SE, Boroondara City)

This locality in the suburb of Camberwell was brought into being with the opening of a railway station at Riversdale Road (formerly Moloney's Road) in 1889. The road, which led to the valley of the Yarra River, was named by parliamentarian and Hawthorn resident Matthew O'Grady. Use of the locality name declined in the second half of the 20th century.
