Now absorbed into the suburb of Burwood East, Tally Ho took its name from an 1870s hotel at the corner of Blackburn and Highbury roads. Orchards predominated as a local industry, and in 1903 the Tally Ho Boys' Village was established as a Methodist training farm for city youth. The name is perpetuated in the Tally Ho Business Park at the south-west corner of Burwood Highway and Springvale Road.
