Arc Lane

Arc Lane is a 2003 extension of Arcade Alley, which runs north off Little Bourke Street between Swanston and Elizabeth streets. Arc Lane meets Arcade Alley midway between Lonsdale and Little Bourke streets, connecting that historic laneway through the Myer building to Lonsdale Street. Arc Lane is an indoor lane, slicing through the Myer building to emerge in daylight at Lonsdale Street. Since the development of large department stores such as Myer and Buckley & Nunn led to the destruction of so many of the city's lanes, it is only fitting that in the modern era, these emporiums are constructing new lanes.
