Sutherland Street

Located between Queen and Elizabeth streets, Sutherland Street extends from La Trobe Street to Little Lonsdale Street. Formed in 1855 as Bucks Head Lane, after the Bucks Head Hotel, it became known as Sutherland Street from 1894. The latter name was possibly for Melbourne merchant Andrew Sutherland.

In 2007, Sutherland Street was the site of Samuel Indratma's art installation 'Urban Apartment', which was part of the City of Melbourne's Laneway Commissions program.
