Sniders Lane

Located between Elizabeth and Swanston streets, Sniders Lane extends west from Drewery Lane, which runs from Lonsdale to Little Lonsdale streets. It was named after Sniders and Abrahams, who manufactured tobacco and cigarettes in Melbourne from 1870. Their warehouse was built on this site in 1909 and is now more commonly referred to as the Dovers Building. Recently, it has been transformed into residential apartments, a process of urban change that is being witnessed in many parts of the city that were once industrial.
